** London's famous book on his undercover-investigation of
circumstances and standards of living of the poorest of the poor in
London.--People run now to the movies' to see "Oliver Twist" and say,
well, huh, that Dickens sure laid it on thick, and he had the "class"-
thing going on and what have you.. Sorry, bro, he didn't, as London's
book shows. Really fascinating read, and one that point to many
inequalities we still can find in place today. One of the books that
really matter.
This can be either seen as brilliant historic documentation, early
social studies, or even as pure horror, but it is definitely non-
fiction. Or read it to make you feel better about how things have
progressed since that age (whereever there was any progress, at
least...).
