It does have the Newer Tech upgrade. I will remove it. I spent all
afternoon looking for a #5 torx wrench (which someone said I needed) without any
luck. Thanks for the correction, I did see many sets that started at #8, so
tomorrow I will take it apart and remove the upgrade and we will see what
happens. I remember when the upgrade came out, everyone was saying that you had to
get it, it was sort of like the upgrade from the 2000 to the 2001. 1M to
4M. That is a tremendous difference, so I would be very hesitant to give it
up, but then again, I've never soldered anything that small. Are the upgrades
very rare?
