We made the lame walk.

I worked at a company called NeuroMotion writing Newton apps to control a
functional electrical stimulation device. (What the heck is that?) It's a
thingie that uses electrodes on the skin to make the muscles in the legs of
hemiplegics move in response to some other signal, kinda like the
involuntary muscle jerk that you get when you touch a wall socket or spark
plug.

In this case, the people had a condition called "foot drop" where they
could no longer lift their foot and, unless held stiff with a splint, it
would drag on the ground as they walked.

The Newton was used as a clinician's interface for setting up the device
that was strapped to the patient's leg. Communications was done using IRDA
over plastic fiber optic cable.

The company died when the vulture capitalists decided that they could make
more money in internet .coms and pulled out of medical devices. Then came
the .com meltdown HAHAHAHAHA.
