Ni hao, Wilber!
I have seen your new Chinese website for the Newton - very good! Makes=20=
me wish I'd remember more than ten words of my Chinese...
One thing I would like to know (this questions goes out to all bookish=20=
Newtonians and all Chinese and Japanese speakers):
I know that the Newton can handle Chinese and Japanese (and possibly=20
Korean?) input systems and stuff written in the respective character in=20=
Notes etc. -- but is it also possible to produce proper eBooks with=20
these fonts with either Newton Press or Newton Bookmaker/NTK?
If so, I would *positively* love it if the Far Eastern Newton=20
communities could produce ebooks in their own tongue (e.g. Chinese=20
version of the Dream of the Red Chamber) and would send it to me as zip=20=
archive to add this to the Temporary Newton Library=20
http://www.matthewreidsma.com/~ebooks and Victor's UNNA (pls. include=20
short About.txt in English describing content).
Chinese etexts can bei found here=20
http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/languages/zh (plenty classics, good for=20=
all students of Chinese language) , Korean here=20
http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/languages/ko (okay, they have only a=20
Korean-English Dictionary, but a *free* dictionary is going to help all=20=
students of Korean, so that's cool) and Japanese here=20
http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/languages/ja (only two titles, but one=20=
is "Rashomon"...). There's probably more stuff at other places, too.
We should seriously get the Newton revolution going by fueling the fire=20=
with more content! More content, more languages, more of everything and=20=
especially more more! And you don't have to be a heavy-hitting coder to=20=
do this -- any moron can make eBooks, as has been repeatedly proven to=20=
the Newtonian public by your pal
DJ Vollkasko.
