Hi Newts,
I carry a shoulder bag (manbag :-) or a backpack with the newton in
it. The newton usually travels with some cards and an adapter and
keyboard. These days an iPod travels along too. The shoulder bag also
gets attached to my bike to be a saddlebag. The bag is big enough to
carry an iBook or duo notebook, too. This Summer on vacation in the
high crime area of Prince Edward Island :-), I carried the iBook in a
beat-up olive drab shoulder bag and the newton, newton stuff and iPod
in the newer much less weathered black shoulder bag.
This url gets one to a very similar bag although I didn't purchase mine
from this company:

The flaps on both my bags are open on one end so one can stash a
folder, newspaper, or magazine in one without opening the bag.
I must admit that my wife has carried the same bag as a purse.
cheers,
Randy
