You should be able to select multiple files on the desktop and drag them
to the NCU window. This will initiate a multiple package installation.

I know that my VNC client for my Linux laptop maps the "Alt" key to the
Mac's Apple key when I connect to my home server. Perhaps Basilisk does
this as well?
