Go to start....control panel....system....go to the tab "system restore"
and check the "disable system restore" then hit apply. That should do
it. If not then look in your system temp folders and clean it out. The
backup data should be stored there.

P.S. If you don't see "system" under the control panel click "use
classic" on the left side of the screen. Then you will.
