If you are looking for an OS X native approach, I think your choices
are limited. NewtSync does a pretty good job with notes but does not
transfer Works documents. I use an old 6400 as a server on my in-house
network and can readily access it from my OS X machine and my Newt,
this is a workable solution for me.
