First of all, make sure your power outlet is OK.
Just plug something else in and check that it
works.
If it does, make sure the AC adapter is OK, for
example by using it with your Newton.
By the way: You are using an original Newton
or eMate adapter for the eMate, aren't you?
If the adapter is OK, perform the reset sequence
EXACTLY (as in: do not change anything) as I
describe it here:
http://www.pda-soft.de/emate_disassemble.html
If even after a brainwipe the eMate does not come
back to life, there's a hardware defect. You are
welcome to send it my way if you want to risk the
cost of shipping back from Germany. Diagnoses are
free for NewtonTalk list members.
The hinge spring problem, by the way, will NOT
result in what you are currently experiencing. If
the charge LED doesn't turn on at all, the reason
is usually that there's something wrong with the
AC adapter, or that the eMate has been used with
the wrong adapter and now there's something wrong
with the eMate.
Good luck
Frank
