[NTLK] Performance slows as external card fills up

As my 20MB card fills up it slows the performance of 2100
siginificantly. I tested this theory by removing the card. Is there a
way of keeping the performance from crippling?

Could partitioning the card (is it possible?) be the answer?
Any suggestions?
