Hmmm,

I don't think there is a simple work around other then using classic...
  Basically a .sea is a self extracting archive file, which means it's
a classic application that unarchives itself...

Of course it's trivial to make a new backup of NBU for mac that is just
a .zip file which OSX supports directly... I guess then we need one for
OSX and one for OS9 though... Perhaps a .sit is the best option?
