My own experience is that NCU does run fine on the newer Windows
systems. What it doesn't do is communicate with the Newt on some of
them. Back when I was running XP on a 1.2 GHz system, I had little
trouble using NCU with a MP2K, but when I upgraded to a 2.8 GHz
motherboard, it refused to work, regardless of serial port settings
or the use of various slowdown programs. I played around with this
for almost 6 months, off and on. So it does seem to be dependant on
specific hardware.
My brother has an MP2K also, and has similar problems since his
hardware upgrade.
My solution was to dig a 350mHz G4 Mac out of the closet and use it
with OS9. Works perfectly.
