well it's not vaporware, that would be longhorn (that's vaporware) I
believe the discussion is about code which really does exist, it really
runs and someone may want it.

price is set between a seller(s) and buyer(s) the seller wants infinate
monies and the buyer wants it free. somewhere between either there is a
transfer or not depending on the choice of the seller to lower thier
expectations and the buyer to part with their funds. in a fluid market
that price may fluctuate and someone may decide to pay more than another
one. that is how ebay works. there is still sw today for the newt which
i would buy at full price if that was the only way to get it. I would
gladly pay retail for a full copy of the Dragon code for speech to text
even if it was unsupported.

I convin\ved the GPSmap author to sell me a copy of that long after he
decided not to continue offering it. You now get it free, i do not feel
cheated as i got what i wanted and when i wanted it.

the land north of me went up for sale some years ago. the owner and i
could not come to an agreement. there are now houses all over it and i
would have gladly paid what he wanted after seeing what i've lost by not
owning it. so for you to pay $50 for an item maybe to much but for
someone else it may be fine. if the seller gets no takers then they
either don't sell or else they change the price. you i guess will wait
until the price comes down to $20 (at some time in the future) while
others will buy at $50 (and use the product now).

these are choices that each of use needs to make. but then if you don't
care for the price of something you can always ASK for a reduction ;-)
the seller just might agree.
