Hi, everyone,
To answer my own question, 2 weeks later...
I have switched to OS X 10.4.1 (Tiger), and now NewtSync is broken.
Two issues have arisen. Note that I did an archive and install and
moved my home directory automatically. Thus, I kept my personal
preference settings, but lots of things in the system changed and
were installed new.
Issue 1: I can't get NewtSync (0.3.3) to connect over TCP/IP. It will
give me the message of "opening TCP/IP" but has only once moved past
that to the "Listening on all addresses" message. It just sits there.
No menus or buttons respond. I have no idea what's going on at that
point.
Issue 2: the one time that I did get it to connect, it was able to
use the Omni Outline synch function (I love that plugin...) and the
text download function (I love that plugin even more...). Notes
downloaded easily from the Newton my desktop, but it crashed on the
calendar. Yeah, I know the iCal formats have changed, and I should
have unchecked the box, but I forgot. I don't really USE the Dates or
Todo functions on my desktop, I just kind of archived things there.
Not a big deal, really. I can archive using DateView (export to
Notes, archive the Notes) if needed. Except of course, for issue 1.
So if anyone has advice, hints, or thoughts, I'd appreciate them. I
already deleted the preferences file (that is how I got it to "listen
on all addresses" the first time, but it hasn't worked since). I have
also turned off any firewall on the desktop. Any other thoughts?
