I do not recall EVER losing data, period.

I've never done a brain wipe on my newtons because I had to. I've rarely
done a hard reset on my day to day newton.

yeap. i've taken it to that point and basically crashed the newt. when
it came back it took a bit longer to start but it always restarted for
me YMMV ;-) oh one more thing, when the newton was this bad off you
could not reallu see the yes / no options on the screen as it was really
faint (that's why I say don't tap anywhere as you just might hit yes. opps)
-------------------------------
right now my newt says it has about 300k of heap. I've got LOTS of stuff
on it. OBTW my primary interface is Action Names and its components and
ButtonBar Plus to maximise screen real estate.

SystemInfo says:
free heap 282k
Internal 1.1M free of 3.5M
20M Low Power card 7.3M free
10M card 7.6 free of 9.7M
AC Power
type of battery NiMh

notice it doesn't sa NiCd, this is the standard as delivered Newton
battery pack. So why can't I recell it with the newer NiMh cells?

ambiant temp is 22.92C
Battery temp 24.62C
charge state fast charging
voltage 6.1v
charge current 1,214.26 (I'm guessing that's in milliamps)
AC voltage 6.62v
I think the above is power PDQ but I have 2 1/2 portrait length pages of
installed packages on this newton and thats with scroll menus, if I go
to extras it runs to about 6 portrait sized pages (tho some of the
lesser used ones are frozen).
