let's stick to common sense, rather than rumours, shall we? it's true =20=
that after Apple's move to using Intel microprocessors, everything =20
might seem possible, even the unlikely. but Dell acquiring Apple? i =20
haven't always been right in predicting things with Apple, but i =20
think it's safe to assume that no one is going to acquire Apple as =20
long as Mr Jobs is alive. :)
anyway, quoting a Macworld article:
"[11 oct] Apple Computer on Tuesday reported a profit of $430 =20
million or $.50 per diluted share for its 2005 fiscal fourth quarter. =20=
The company posted revenue of $3.68 billion, the highest revenue and =20
earnings in the company=92s history. These results compare to revenue =20=
of $2.35 billion and a net profit of $106 million, or $.13 per =20
diluted share, in the year-ago quarter.
Apple said it ship 1,236,000 Macs and 6,451,000 iPods during the =20
quarter, representing 48 percent growth in Macs and 220 percent =20
growth in iPods over the year-ago quarter.
International sales accounted for 40 percent of the quarter=92s =20
revenue, the company said in a statement.
For fiscal 2005, Apple generated revenue of $13.93 billion and a net =20
profit of $1.335 billion, reflecting annual growth of 68 percent and =20
384 percent, respectively, and representing the highest annual =20
revenue and net profit in the company=92s history.
Looking ahead to the next quarter, Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer said =20
he expects revenue of about $4.7 billion".
this is definitely not a company that wants to be acquired :)
