Obviously MS has easier streams of revenue ... they are a monopoly.
Jobs and Gates aren't exactly friends. Jobs and Ellison are friends,
best friends. Jobs and Gates are peers.
And the "continued commitment to MS Office" in 1996 was a requirement
of the UI infringement settlement. It has expired and is now
completely informal. MS has said they have no interest in renewing a
formal commitment.
