Leo,

Interesting you should mention FlashCards.

I made a work-flow decision a while ago to not even attempt to sync my
Newton to my desktop.

1) I eliminate the time needed to do the sync
2) I have "normalized" my data, i.e. it's only one place, one time, on
my Newton
3) I use my Newton only for mobile required tasks such as todos,
hierarchical notes for ideas
4) I don't want the hassles of syncing under even the best of
circumstances as it's an unneeded variable in my equation
5) I don't need to sync what's on my Newton to my desktop. For feature
needed tasks I use my primary workstation to go graphic and video
production, and everything I don't do on my Neweton, a dual G5 running
the latest build of Tiger
6) I store ALL my packages (don't want or need many) and ALL my data
INTERNALLY on my Newton, nothing ever on a FlashCard.
7) Here's the beauty; Every so often, daily if as needed, I do a FULL
backup of my Newton to one of the six 4MB FlashCards which I then store
in rotation, newest to oldest.

This way I my Newton can blow up and explode into a million fragments
and I'll be up and running again without ever loosing more than anything
that changed from the last full backup. All I need to is plug in the
most recent FlashCard I made into any Newton and I'm up and running.

I have a stable of 9 Newtons. All 2000's and 2100's.
I have 6 Newton Keyboards.
I have 12 FlashCards, most 4MB, some larger.
I have dongles, cables, and I can get any software I need off the Net.

The only thing now that can go wrong is if "I" get blown up into a
million pieced.

Which just reminded me to put at least half of the 6 older backup
FlashCards I have neatly stored in the drawer behind me into my
fireproof data vault in case the house gets hit by a nuclear bomb or
burns to the ground, along with my firewire system drive hot-swap drives.

Over and out,

John
