The readme for text sync that I have (from Onion Glass Software) says only:
The Basics:
TextSync will backup the Notes data on your Newton to a folder of text
files on your Mac. In addition, TextSync can create notes on the
Newton from text files on the Mac.
This is beta quality software. Backup any important data before you begin.
