Tovi,

I have the Mem Card Loaner program and I'm in East Lansing (Go Green). I can
get the Ir drivers on and then if any of your Mac's have an Ir port on them,
you'll be good t go with everything else by getting it from UNNA.

With the MP2000, you'll need to manage what's actually loaded as it doesn't
have as much internal mem as the 2100. Having mem cards will greatly help
with this. I personally have mem cards configured for major tasks that I do.
For example, when I write food reviews, I have a card configured with apps
that help with writing and databases. I have another for GPS, although I
don't have a gosh darn GPS card, I have the app and maps with communication
tools. The concept in endless, but you can do many simultaneous tasks just
on the Newt as long as you manage the memory. Web surfing and e-mail would
be a good use of this technique and then you need to account for backing up
apps and data. You should count on having at least 2 or 3 4 meg cards. They
are widely available on e-bay and I think I have an e-mail address of an
E-Bayer who has a ton of mem cards and knows which ones work with
MessagePads. When I can get time to search for it I'll send a notice...

Best Regards,

Subject: [NTLK] MP2000 noob in Chicago

Hi everyone:
This is my first time writing for the group. I've been spying for a while,
learning but had never written until now. I just acquired a MP2000 on Ebay
with a keyboard and dongle. I have no way of connecting it to my iMac and
I'm on a budget so going out and purchasing adapters and cables is out of
the question. I was just wondering if there were any Newton users in the
Chicago area that could help me out by lending me a card loaded with
software or using iR.

Now that I'm writing to the group, guess I might as well ask some questions.

*Right now I erased everything and my MP is blank. I would like to install
system updates, newtworks, avisbackdrop, games and MAYBE some applications
for internet (nethopper, Mail V, NIE, newtjabber) in case I decide to
install WiFi in the future. Would these applications require that I buy
memory cards? How imperative is it to buy extra memory cards? Is this a
must?

*From reading on the internet, I understand that the only way to sync Dates
and Names with Address Book and iCal on OSX is through a serial connection
and it can't be done through wi-fi, ethernet or bluetooth.
Is this correct? Do the sync applications also handle notes?

Thanks to everyone for the help!

Tovi
