Really? I always liked that feature! You do realized that you can hold
down the stylus to speed it up, and also tap down to go up? I can
generally get the time I want in just a few taps, and it's more
flexible than the five-minute slots that the Palm forces on you.

However, there is one other option that's built into the Newton
system. Use the Assist, so you would write in Notes or even the Assist
field (meeting Aug 24 10:45pm, and you will get a meeting slip already
filled out with the date and time. You now only need to add the rest.
If you are a bit more ambitious, you can write "meet Jane Doe re:
product at 2:45pm August 24. And it will add everything in for you.
What's really cool is if you want to meet at noon with somebody
tomorrow, you can even write "lunch with joe bloe tomorrow" and it
will fill in the time, date, and all the rest. Assist is quite
powerful and useful. Learn to use it!

That said, Action Names has a little-known feature of "scanning for
available time slots" and in this view (a magnifying glass on a
calendar?) in the AN meeting slip, you can drag your meeting across a
time slider, so with AN, you create a new meeting, with its default
time, tap the icon and slide to your heart's content.

Check the archives for information on Action Names. Everything is
there for you. It's abandon-ware now.
