As for the hinge repair, as others have pointed out it is mandatory to
have this done. As for the power adapter: If you had had as many
Newtons that were killed by a wrong adapter on your workbench as
yours truly, you wouldn't even ASK this question :-)
In a nutshell: Unless you have an oscilloscope to measure the output
voltage both with maximum load and without any load, better stick to the
original.
