Thanks for the replying to that message, Jon. Somehow I overlooked this

If we're talking about the internal expansion port plugs, the male 30-pin
PCB interconnect plugs are available from JAE. They have a 3rd party
sample parts supplier linked from their page who requires you to set up
a free account and specify why you want samples. It took about 3 weeks
for me to get 5 interconnects for a project I entitled the "iDapt".
Adriano, is the iTrip strictly audio or does it also take advantage of the
serial port on the iPod? I believe the iPod and Newton both have
compatible TTL-level serial and it should be just an issue of writing
software to communicate with some of these devices. I picked up an iPod
mini connector and Apple iPod remote in hopes of putting together a basic
expansion card for iPod products, but since I haven't been putting much
time into it, I'm glad to see you're making headway. I suspect Daniel
Padilla would be a valuable resource for help in this direction, but we
lost touch a while back.
Incidentally, the old iPod remote was based on a PIC chip and
highly-documented control codes thanks to a few people out there. I'd
love to see the radio remote figured out. Does anyone know of a website
where one's been disected?
