[NTLK] Problem with Megahertz LAN card

Just received and installed a 3CXE589ET ethernet card in my newton.

I read the instructions carefully and followed them, I downloaded the
Farralon driver and the patch for 3COM cards (both them, actually).

Upon attempting to connect, the process races along until I get the
error message:

"An error occurred. Try reloading the device driver. If the problem
persists, contact the driver developer."

Reloading doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas?
