Hmm yes that does sound like a serial number. Apple put the part
numbers on the edge of the cards, and I know that has wore off without a
trace on two of my Apple flash cards.
Yes if has a battery it is a SRAM, and any SRAM card will work in a
Newton (due to the fact they all use the same voltage). The Newt is
only picky about FLASH ram because of the varying voltages.
