Use NCU and the demo version of CPUKiller:

The demo is good for 20 minutes of uninterrupted syncing,
and you can throttle your CPU as much as you want without
having to run multiple instances of the program. Works very
well with my Athlon 2200+.
Better yet (much better indeed), especially for largeish applications
