I think this is a classic "less is more scenario" Removing a bit of
the bezel seems to be the most permanent and easy fix. Adding material
of any kind seems likely to make things worse.

Also, despite the common appearance of this issue on the list, I must
say that I have a couple of MP2000 units in heavy use and have NEVER
seen this issue (knock on wood).
