Just to mention this, you could hack a headphone port into the Newton 2x00 or get a Audio Out cable made to have it go to speakers.

Subject: [NTLK] How to adjust DTMF volume

I have always enjoyed using my Newton to dial my phone by holding the
mouthpiece close to the Newton's speaker and letting the dialer play the
Touch-Tone beeps.

On my MP2100 it seems as though there is no connection between the loudness
setting for speaker volume and the loudness of the DTMF tones, and the
tones are so soft my phone does not always break dial tone. Is there a way
to make them louder?
