Aaron,
As far as I know, this will not work, however I do have a Nokia 6620, a
slightly-revised version of the 6600, and have been able to get it on
the net using Nitro, which implements a full IrDA/IrCOMM stack for
NewtonOS. It seems my phone emits some IR signals which causes Nitro to
make my Newton spontaneously reboot, however, so it's not of much use.
I wrote the author about it a week or so ago, but haven't heard anything
back from him yet.
But to answer your question directly, no, I do not think it's currently
possible to send packages to your Newton via IrDA.
