Hi Chris,
You may find that the eMate offers a pretty good word processor and
more.
First, look at frank Gruendel's site re hinge repair.
main site <http://www.pda-soft.de/index.html>

see UNNA for NCU Newton Connection Utilities which may provide some
of the missing files.
<http://www.unna.org/view.php?/apple>

There is also an installer for NCU that installs it in Classic for OS X
see <http://messagepad.free.fr/Documentation/PDF.html>

you can also find some Newton stuff an\t the bottom of this link
<http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html>

To confirm whether you have 'Claris xtnd system', look in the os 9
system folder open the Claris folder and 'Claris xtnd system' should
be at the firs level of this folder.
