Thanks for the link! I'd seen Stephanie's site. Sounds
like you've done this hack! Maybe I'll enlist a friend
in the area who's handier with a soldering iron than I
am, and attempt to pay the piper in Ice Cold Beer, or
at least a Beverage of Their Choice.

(I have opened the eMate before, to do the hinge
repair you mention — wasn't as hard as I thought it
might be — but gluing capacitors to some surface
inside the emate while I attempt to solder and
desolder them elsewhere seems like a task for a better
solderer than I!)
