Hi there! I'm Alex Perez, a recent addition to the cult of Newtons
I recently picked up an eMate 300 with a 4MB memory upgrade module for
$65 off eBay, and I own a Nokia 6620 GSM phone*, which has an Infrared
port. I have a data plan with Cingular, my mobile phone carrier, and the
phone is capable of Class 4 GPRS data connections (still quite slow) and
EDGE data connections of up to 236kbit/sec
Has anyone here ever experimented with or written any software to allow
one to use a Newton OS v2.1 device to be able to use a phone as the data
transport (not via a modem call, mind you)? The Nokia 6620 is a
SymbianOS smartphone, and has a web browser built into it, so this is to
a certain extent an academic question/exercise, but still one I'm
curious about, nonetheless.
