In Extras (On OS 2.x devices), when you tap on the diamond list at the
top of your Extras (probably titled "Unfiled), you should see an item
toward the bottom of the list, named "Storage".
This may seem a little brutal, but by tapping on one of the little
safe icons, you will see a window pop open. In the bottom, left
corner, is a button, named "Delete." Tap that to delete either the
entire soup, or the entries in the soup (depending on whether it's a
built-in soup (names, notes, etc.) or a soup belonging to a
third-party app. Doing this, you can pick and choose what soups to
delete. Plus, you are less likely to delete something essential to the
system (like your user profile or software license codes). In other
words, this is the safest route to go, and will clean out the most
space the fastest. I know of only one soup in this folder that you
cannot delete this way--the PocketQuicken Wallet soup. If you tap on
it, you get a message to delete it from within PocketQuicken. I hope
you still have it installed if this is the case. ;-)
Since you are quite new to the Newton, I do not recommend a soup
editor. You can wreak horrible damage with one of those! ;-) That
said, there is SAI's Prefs cleaner, which you should be able to safely
use to clean out prefs from programs you no longer have installed.
