I don't know how the Mac side of things works, but I set up a server to allow me to install Newt packages directly onto my Newt from a webpage (see my signature line). You can install the Personal Webserver binaries onto any Windows machine and you will then be able to serve your Newt packages to your newt just by browsing to the *.pkg. Just make sure that you have the correct MIME set and you're in business. On my own installation, however, I've made it a little more complex since the pkgs are served from a database and I preset the MIME in my Cold Fusion code.
   
  on my Windows server the MIME for Newton Packages is:
  Associated Extension .PKG
  Content Type (MIME) application/x-newton-compatible-pkg
