Ha! But just the other day, I needed to add up my bills, to take the
money out of the bank. I really needed more than a calculater, as I
wanted to list everything, and then calculate the exchange rate, and
needed to do some munging. I reached for my Excel, and decided it
would take too long to launch, set up, etc. so I reached for my Palm,
and thought of the hassle of entering everything with Graffiti, and
remembered my Newton has the wonderful 2-column stationery, with
calculations built in, and it's all done in a natural manner--write
your items in one column, numbers in the other, and hilite the figures
you want calculated, and hit the proper math function. In less time
than it would take me to either write everything or do the math in my
mind, or use any of the other tools, writing the formulas, I had my
data, and was off to the bank machine! In fact, as I sit here writing
this, I believe it took me less time to write all 6 items, and do the
math, than to describe it!
So, yes, Excel on the Palm or desktop is great for some things (or
NewtonWorks spreadsheet), but give me the Newton paperroll for
everything else. ;-)
