[NTLK] Broken 110 - maybe an easy fix

Hi all,
First time post here - just bought my first Newton, a 110, about a year ago,
and have finally started playing with it.

I was scribbling something in when the screen kind of flashed, and a few
vertical, thin lines appeared, and the Newton blipped off. I thought maybe
the auto-off had triggered, but I tried turning it back on and it wouldn't
go.

I've replaced the batteries (the main as well as the lithium memory battery)
and hit the hard reset button, but still nothing.

This seems like such a basic problem, but I have no idea what else to try.
What's a good place to start?

Thanks, from the rookie,

Dave L.
