Really? Somewhere along the way I was told:

"A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing in e-mail?"

I've worked at remembering this -- and laughing at it -- and then acting
accordingly.

Isn't simply trimming a quote as much as possible sufficient?

Just wondering.
