Good Morning All,
This fine morning I plan to show my ignorance, so get ready for a good
laugh. First on my list, is the list. For some reason that I cannot
fathom, posts that I post to the list never get to my inbox until or unless
somebody replies. This causes minor distress as I am never certain that the
message got out until I get a reply.
Does anyone have a suggestion for this odd happenstance?
Second is Newtonlink. I am far from a Linux guru, though I have been
actively using it for almost a decade now. I have yet to ever get
Newtonlink to work, though, and I suspect that this will become necessary
pretty quickly as my old Compaq running Windows 98 is getting a little long
in the tooth and will soon be relegated to the junk bin to keep my Tandy 600
company.
I have installed the most recent stable Newtonlink RPM (1.29) on my Fedora
Core 6 machine. Installation went without incident, the system detected the
required dependencies and downloaded them from the repositories, asked me if
I was sure I wanted to install an unsigned RPM, to which I replied "yes",
and Newtonlink took up residence on my hard drive... not certain exactly
where, probably /etc/bin.
Now the fun stuff; typing "newtonlink", or "./newtonlink" into a command
line, even as root seems to have no effect. Typing "man newtonlink" does
bring up the Newtonlink manual, so I am reasonably certain that the package
is installed properly.
Is anyone out there actively using Newtonlink these days or am I the last
dinosaur? I would appreciate any suggestions... ridicule me if necessary,
but the Mutt list has already chewed me up pretty badly for posting
questions about Sendmail. Life goes on.
Dale
