Jon, that's pretty much exactly what I would have said, if I could have
figured it out first. That integration of "good-enough" individual features
into an outstanding final performance is the thing that amazed me about the
Newton from the first time I saw it and tried it; what you called " the best
balance of all those characteristics". And I suppose that's why I carry my
Newt around even when my laptop stays home, and even when I don't intend to
do anything more than idly knock some ideas around on the screen, or even
just doodle. The Newt is somehow so human and natural in its approach to
data-entry (and that extends to data-handling and all the rest).
HWR that works leaves me amazed all over again every time I do it. It's not
that I want to rubbish other things, but that balance you talked about means
I'm holding in my hand a thing that doesn't make a fuss and doesn't leave me
fussing. It just works. I write, just like I've been doing since 1954, and
Newt turns it into text
