Thanks - I've done some more troubleshooting and got it all working! -
my problems were pretty mundane. The problem with the 3c589d was I was
using the wrong cable [though the dongle fitted it was for another
card]... and the problem with wireless was I needed to set both my
access point and emate to not use wep [one was set for it but with no
key set]. At least that's all I changed and now it's fine. I can't
telnet to the linux box, but my router doesn't seem to pick up it's
name, which is probably the issue there. The emate gets an ip address
and reports it [maybe in vt100, I can't remember]. Regards, Joe
