After turning off the WEP on the AirPort, did you remove the WEP key
from Hiroshi's WaveLAN driver settings? It likely won't be able to
connect if it's still trying to provide authentication credentials. If
you just back the AirPort down to 40-bit encryption, enter the new
"equivalent network password" on the Newton and try again, does that
make a difference?
Have you double checked that the SSID is spelled correctly, with
correct capitalization & white space, and matches the AirPort's
wireless network name?
And last, but not least, do you have the correct worksite selected so
it's getting all the appropriate configurations for NIE, Hiroshi's
WaveLAN drivers, etc.?
Some people have described removing the SSID & WEP Key completely from
the WaveLAN driver settings and that it'll connect to the nearest
802.11b access point that's open, so it's probably worth trying that
with WEP off on the AirPort to make sure you can get at least some
connection.
