Hi,

here's something for brave hackers - The Ruby Desktop Connectivity
Library (RDCL). The bad news is that it's version 0.2, and in early
development stages. The good news is that the library is written in
Ruby and runs on Windows and MacOS X (it should run on Unix/Linux as
well), which makes contributing and using it hopefully much simpler.

The idea is to provide an open source, extensible communication
library to replace the NCU, and implement applications for backup/
restore, synchronizing, package management and import/export.

Some of the functionality is available via a small command line
application, which can be used as a starting point for own experiments.

The RDCL is available from SourceForge: http://rdcl.sourceforge.net/

Any contributions and questions are welcome!

Eckhart
