[NTLK] using SBM Utilities

Are there any suggestions (to non-programmers as to how to use SBM
Utilities?
I have their meager documentation, but wonder if there's more available
elsewhere.
 
I try to clean up my soups and slots before my weekly backup, but
because I don't fully understand what i'm doing, I've lost data once or
twice.
 
Any suggestions would be welcome. TIA
