For Stuffit expansion, I've always relied on sitex10 on the PC:

Alot of times when you download a PKG that was created on one system (Mac/PC) and then you try to access it from another system (PC/Mac) the system you got it from does some funny stuff to the file. On the PC, you will need to get a file named "strip.exe"
Put this file in the folder where the PKG sits and open a command line (you can also double click on the file in the GUI, but if it throws an error, you will not see it) and browse to that folder and run strip.exe. It will automatically find all PKG files in that folder and attempt to strip out the Mac stuff so that it is accessible from a PC.

I have a copy of strip sitting here incase you need it:

Never mind that we just had an incredibly cold winter in North America and huge record snowfalls across the continent. As Al Gore said to a bunch of us the other day, these record cold spells and record snowfalls are actually caused by global warming. To which Jerry York replied, "Jeez then I guess we better stop this global warming before we all f**king freeze to death, eh?"

Hello everyone,

Right thanks to Frank from this mailing list, I very swiftly received a
purchased a 20mb pcmcia card with the wifi drivers and a web browser on it
and a few other bits and pieces.

I can report my Wifi card now works fine and I can browse the web, however
only with wep disabled, if I have it with WEP on and input the web key it
just drops out after 'Processing DHCP' - I imagine this is possibly
because
the drivers Frank kindly put on the pcmcia card might be the original
shareware version which doesn't support wep and I think im right in saying
the original driver author has now released wep support for free.

Now I have downloaded this driver from his website however Its in SIT format
and I don't have a mac and none of the PC SIT decompressors I have
downloaded will open the damn archive!! I've re-downloaded it as well just
in case the download was corrupt.

My next plan was to use the Wifi on the Newt to download an FTP client and
then use that to install packages from an FTP server setup on my home
network, however for some reason despite the handwriting recognition being
fine in the rest of the newt for some reason it seems to be rubbish in
Courier, and I can't figure out how to use the on-screen keyboard in
Courier
to input a url.

I managed to get onto Unna but despite the NewtFTP page displaying fine on a
PC when I click on it on the Newt I just get an Error and I cant access the
PKG file!! Grrrr.

Additionally I have a dongle now but no serial to Din cable, I popped along
to the local Maplin but they had nothing like it.

My home wifi is now running with WEP disabled but I have MAC address

Anyone any ideas on how to proceed and get some more stuff installed? I
understand Newtscape may be a better browser but I need to find a way to get
PKG's installed.

Regards
Leigh.
