[NTLK] Newton -PC Serial Cable and Targus Keyboard

I am thinking of trying to connect a Targus Folding Keyboard to a
Newton-to-PC cable or replace the connector on the keyboard with the
Newton 2000 connector from the cable. Then I can directly connect the
Keyboard to the Newton 2000. Does this sound hopeless?
