I found "ILikeYouBetter", an OS 9 filetype changer, that worked out for me.

I don't think it actually opens and stays open. As I recall it
Highlights and does its job then un highlights.

It has been a while since I used it. If it does not correct the file
type info so you can install then download another copy.
