The way I did this is as follows:

Using a drawing application like Newtworks (with drawing extension
loaded) or HexPaint.
First draw the picture.
Then copy it and paste it into a new Note.
Mail the note to yourself using Mailv - and make sure you choose GIF in
the format not text.
Then upload the image to the blog.

I've added your email to the list of contributors so you can upload one
