Tim, my quick suggestion is to check eBay for Gilgamesh
I recall hearing that he sold one with the battery tray modded in and the
hinge fix also some where around $79 shipped. or plus shipping.

Not a sales pitch, but I've deal with him before (bought a MP2100) and he
sells at what I think is a fair price and with reasonable shipping I would
pay.

You'd have all of what you want while still contributing to a encourage an
alternate reasonable priced Newton/eMate vendor.

Of course if you have the DIY skills or desire to try your hand at it please
do as suggested by the other Newton users.
