I've been using search.twitter.com for a while, setting up search
queries that optionally filter out the unwanted terms, such as:
http://search.twitter.com/search?q=apple+newton
http://search.twitter.com/search?q=newton+-olivia+-helmut
http://search.twitter.com/search?q=messagepad
http://search.twitter.com/search?q=newtontalk
You can then subscribe to the results as an RSS feed.
