This would be correct.

Now check your In/Out Box Prefs. Make sure the check box "Always store new items internally" is NOT checked.

You can also verify where your email box has stored stuff by opening Extras, navigating to your Storage folder and tapping In/Out Items. What do the item counts say? Tip: You can move them (while you're here) too, by tapping the Filing icon.
